The Bluefield Ridge Runners are excited to welcome families from across the region to Bowen Field on Friday, June 5th for the Annual MLB Pitch Hit and Run Qualifying Event. This free MLB affiliated event is open to boys and girls ages 7 through 14 and gives young athletes the opportunity to showcase their baseball and softball skills while competing for a chance to advance to the next level of competition.
Pitch Hit and Run is one of Major League Baseball’s premier youth development events and focuses on three important areas of the game including pitching hitting and running. Athletes will compete in skill based drills designed to test accuracy power and speed with official scores and measurements recorded throughout the event. Based on their results participants can advance from the local competition to team championships and eventually the finals.
Parents and families are encouraged to attend and enjoy the event from the grandstands as athletes take the field throughout the evening in a fun and exciting baseball atmosphere.
Registration Schedule:
Boys ages 7 to 8 registration begins at 5:30 PM
Girls ages 7 to 8 registration begins at 5:45 PM
Boys ages 9 to 10 registration begins at 6:00 PM
Girls ages 9 to 10 registration begins at 6:15 PM
Boys ages 11 to 12 registration begins at 6:30 PM
Girls ages 11 to 12 registration begins at 6:45 PM
Boys ages 13 to 14 registration begins at 7:00 PM
Girls ages 13 to 14 registration begins at 7:15 PM
Each group must check in during its assigned registration time before taking the field. Groups will be called one at a time as competition areas become available.
